Pursuing Christ

Pursuing Christ

Over the last few weeks, boxes and packages have arrived at our front door. Once through the entryway, a closet or the garage become holding places for these gifts until the big day. Jessica and I know our children anticipate Christmas Day with great expectancy for the gifts they will soon open. Simultaneously, Jessica and I are excited to be the givers and to witness the delight on our kids’ faces when they unwrap festive packages to reveal the surprises inside!

I think about how God must have felt when He gave the first Christmas gift. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” - John 3:16

Our Heavenly Father gave us the most incredible gift and extravagant display of love through the birth of His Son, Jesus Christ. God gave us a gift we could never possibly repay. All He asks in return is for us to accept His good and perfect gift and pursue a relationship with Him. Just as the shepherds and wise men eagerly sought to find the Messiah, we, too, can pursue Jesus with urgency and vigor.

“When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.’ So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.” - Luke 2:15-16

How Will You Pursue Christ This Christmas?

  • Look for Him (Psalm 63:1)
  • Be mindful of your focus (Philippians 4:8)
  • Be generous (Galatians 6:2)
  • Celebrate the Greatest Gift Ever Given (Isaiah 9:6)

WHAT NEXT? Take time this Christmas to recognize your need for the gift of Jesus Christ and invite others in your pursuit of Him. “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
